The
owners of the Bradford Store wish to proceed with the
designation of the building. They are asking conceptual
approval to move the building approximately 150' back
from the highway. There is much evidence that the
highway will be widened.
The
owners are planning to rehabilitate the building, and
re-open it as a "country store." The store was once
part of a rural commercial complex, described in the
Survey and Research Report for the Bradford House and
Store. Foundations and other remains indicate the
positions of these other buildings, which included a
cotton gin and a blacksmith shop. The owners are also
requesting conceptual approval for in-fill buildings on
the site that would be based on the historic rural
commercial complex. |
