Dear Dr. Morrill:
Thank you for your letter dated October 24 regarding the
historic landmark designation for Bryant Park. You stated the legal
consequences of historic landmark designation are enumerated in N.C.G.S.
160A - 400. Would you please provide a copy of the document for our staff
review? My fax number is (704) 319-9537.
Your letter went on to say that the Historic Landmarks
Commission (HLC) will consider whether it will recommend the designation of
Bryant Park as a historic landmark at their November 12th mtg at 6:00 pm.
This letter is sent to request that you postpone this discussion until our
staff has had an appropriate opportunity to review N.C.G.S. 160A - 400 and
to determine the impacts of this designation on Bryant Park. Neither my
supervisor, Troy J. Fitzsimmons, Planning Team Project Manager nor I can
attend the meeting and take part in this critically important discussion due
to other commitments previously scheduled the evening of November 12, 2001.
It would be very helpful if you could also provide a copy of the 2001 and
2002 HLC meeting calendars so that we can be prepared to attend future
meetings.
Also, I am enclosing some photographs we had of the Lucas
family home off Margaret Wallace Drive in Charlotte. Please feel free to use
them if appropriate. Should you need to reach me, my office telephone number
is (704) 336-5482. Your attention to this matter is greatly
appreciated.
