Frye Chevrolet, ca. 1927
416 West Fifth Street
UTM 17 514073E 3898690N
As one of only two identified surviving
dealership buildings in the uptown area, this brick and glass showroom with
attached garages is significant as a representative example of the
automobile dealerships that once thrived in the center city. The
dealership at this location appears to have been short lived. While
Frye Chevrolet advertised in the 1934 City Directory, by 1936 there is no
listing for the business. The building was later used as Greyhound Bus
Company office and garage.
