AGENDA

1. Chairman’s Report: Ms. Hockett welcomed everyone to the meeting.

3. Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness

A. James Morrow Coffey House, 3300 Shopton Road, Charlotte, N. C.

The owner of the property, Mr. Ladd Ackerman, was present in support of the Application. Mr. Gray presented rudimentary drawings (not elevations) of the proposed two-story addition to the rear of the house. Mr. Ackerman answered questions about the proposed plans. After discussing the matter, the Committee agreed that the applicant must present more complete information and detailed elevations of the proposed addition in order to adequately assess the Application. The Committee agreed that if the owner wishes to have the Application considered at the September 12th meeting of the HLC, plans deemed to be acceptable by HLC staff must be in the HLC’s office no later than September 1, 2005. The Committee asked Mr. Gray to write a letter to the owner stating the requirements necessary for the Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness to be considered at the September 12th HLC meeting.

B. William Lee House, 6415 Gaywind Drive, Charlotte, N. C.

The owner of the property, Mr. Robert Teller, was present in support of the Application. Proposed elevations by Meyer-Greeson-Paullin for the large addition to the rear of the house were presented. Mr. Teller said that he desires that the original home’s facade be viewed from Sharon View Road and that the address be returned to 2550 Sharon View Road. A barn-like outbuilding will also be built.

MR. JONES PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. SHURLEY TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE APPLICATION FOR A CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FOR THE WILLIAM LEE HOUSE, 6415 GAYWIND DRIVE, CHARLOTTE, N. C., BE APPROVED AS PRESENTED. THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

Note: The Committee agreed that details for landscaping and improvements for the yard and for property lines in front of the property along Sharon View Road and barn plans could be handled under Minor Works.

4. Old Business

No old business was presented.

5. New Business

Dr. Morrill said that some applicants are not following the instructions found on the HLC’s website - www.cmhpf. org, for Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness. The Committee agreed that deadlines must be met and that scaled elevations and site plans must be a part of the Application or the Application cannot be accepted.

The meeting adjourned at 9:05 a.m.
