Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission: 25th Anniversary

On August 9, 1998, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks
Commission a special observance at its office, the Ratcliffe-Otterbourg
House, 2100 Randolph Road, to celebrate its silver anniversary. Hundreds of
guests came to enjoy the celebration and to hear speakers Lynn Wheeler
(Charlotte Mayor Pro Tem), Parks Helms (Mecklenburg County Commissioner),
David Brook (Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer), Melvin Watt (U. S.
House of Representatives), Lindsay Daniel (Commission Chairman), and Dan
Morrill (Commission Consulting Director). Here are some photos from the
event.
A committee of volunteers coordinated the event. Mecklenburg County Park and
Recreation Department set up the tents outside for the guests to hear the
speakers at 3 PM.
