Director's Report
September 8, 2003
1. The processing of
designating a lesser amount of land for Cedar Grove Plantation is moving
forward. The prospect is that a joint public hearing with the Town
of Huntersville will occur in November.
2. Staff will be meeting
with the Stewardship Committee of Parks and Recreation to discuss the
prospect of designating a greater amount of land for historic landmark
designation at the Oehler Farm.
3. Parks and Recreation
will be scheduling a meeting with an ad-hoc committee of the HLC to
discuss the prospect of designating American Legion Memorial Stadium as
a historic landmark.
4. The designation of the
Washam Farm is progressing. The land to be included in the
prospective historic landmark has been surveyed, and the ordinance and
associated materials are being prepared. We are awaiting final
approval from the owners to begin the designation process. A
meeting is scheduled for this week with the owners.
5. The Davidson town
attorney has received the draft of the ordinance for the designation of
the Chairman Blake House at its new location. A joint public
hearing with the Davidson Town Board will occur in October or November.
6. Staff is beginning the
processing of the South 21 Curb Service Restaurant for historic landmark
designation.
7. Staff is beginning the
processing of the former Charlotte Post Office Building for historic
landmark designation.
8. The County Budget
Office has delivered a packet of information that staff will have to
fill out by October 24th setting forth the projected budgets of the
Commission based upon established inflationary numbers provided by the
County. A session with the County staff is scheduled for November
13th and with the Board of County Commissioners on November 25th.
Members of the Commission will only attend the November 25th meeting if
invited by the Board of County Commissioners.
9. Staff will be
developing a list of prospective projects for presentation to the
Projects Committee at its meeting on October 6th. Staff would be
happy to receive recommendations from members of the Commission.
