A.  Linda Kidd, the Realtor for the Rozzell House,  has recommended that the Rozzell property be divided and that the two houses and 3.2 acres of land be offered as a separate parcel at a reduced price of $325,000.  The Committee passed the following motion:

MS. JOHNSON PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. HOBBS TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE EDWARD M. ROZZELL PROPERTY, 11647 ROZZELLES FERRY ROAD, CHARLOTTE, N. C., BE DIVIDED AS PRESENTED AND THAT THE TWO HOUSES AND 3.2 ACRES OF LAND BE OFFERED AS A SEPARATE PARCEL FOR $325,000. THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

B.  Bobbie Shields, Assistant County Manager, has directed Bryan Turner to work with Marvin Bethune to prepare an action item for the Board of County Commissioners that will allow greater flexibility for the HLC's revolving fund, namely that the HLC will not have to go before the Board to have funds individually recognized.

C.  The HLC has requested that additional bond funds be allocated for the Revolving Fund.  The Citizens Capital Budget Advisory Committee will be having its subcommittees preparing their reports within the next two to three weeks.  The appropriate subcommittee might be in touch with staff in the near future.

D.  Torrence-Lytle School – 302 Holbrook Rd., Huntersville

Bobbie Shields continues to believe that the County would be willing to convey the Torrence-Lytle property to the HLC at minimal cost.  Bryan Turner is working with a contractor to better estimate the abatement costs.  An appraisal is forthcoming. Final HLC action is pending.

E. Sidney and Ethel Grier House – 4647 Grier Farm Lane, Charlotte

The Sidney & Ethel Grier House (Asking price:  $375,000) has been listed with Lexie Longstreet.  Staff has been reconsidering the amount of  money to spend on the upfit.  Robert Schmitt has submitted a revised set of figures for upfitting the kitchen and one bathroom.  The amount falls within the funds already approved by the Commission.  Bryan Turner will be working to have Robert Schmitt begin work.

F.  White Oak – 7729 Hood Rd., Charlotte

White Oak Plantation (Asking price:  $1.4 million 18 acres) has been listed with Lexie Longstreet. Stewart Gray continues to work with the County Risk Management Office to see if the County will pay all or some portion of the cost of repairing the water damage to the house.

G. N. S. Alexander House – 5014 Sharon Amity Rd., Charlotte

The buyers of the N. S. Alexander House should close on the property on April 27th.

H. Charlotte Cotton Mills – 508 W. 5th St., Charlotte

I.  All of the Charlotte Cotton Mills should be sold by July, 2007.

J.  Dilworth Houses – HLC Staff has been contacted by the DCDA (Dilworth Community Development Association) about the possibility of the Commission's purchasing three houses on Euclid Avenue.  The houses have been bought by a developer whose initial plans involve the demolition of the houses.  Final HLC action is pending.  Click here for photos.

K.  Dr. Morrill and Len Norman met with the new director of the Park and Recreation Commission to discuss the the possible collaboration between HLC and the Park and Recreation Commission in the identification and purchase of rural resources
