2. Acquisition of Palmer
Fire School. The Board of County Commissioners intends to
transfer the larger portion of the Palmer Fire School property to the
Historic Landmarks Commission.
Park and Recreation will retain a
small portion of the property as a greenway. There are several
matters that are yet to be determined. City Council will have to
remove the condition that the property must be used for a park or
recreational purpose. FWA Group has expressed a strong interest in
buying the property and moving its offices there. FWA's current
lease expires in February 2003. The level of restoration of the
property remains uncertain. In order to meet the County's schedule,
however, the Historic Landmarks Commission must initiate the mandatory
referral process to acquire the property. Staff recommends
approval.
3. The listing
agreement with Percivals for the Croft Schoolhouse has expired. The
County recommends that the Commission continue to use a realtor when
selling property. Staff
recommends that the listing agreement with Percivals for the Croft
Schoolhouse be renewed.
4. The Buyer's
agent agreement with First Charlotte Properties expired on December 31st.
The County recommends that the Commission use County services when
acquiring property. Staff
recommends that the buyers agent agreement with First Charlotte
Properties not be renewed.

recommending two betterments for the HLC's Budget Request. They are:
1) funds to conduct a survey of center city historic resources, 2)
additional funds for continuing education, including education for members
