the Charlotte Observer Company Building provided a new and expanded home
for the Charlotte Observer and the Charlotte News when it opened.
Designed by J. N. Pease Associates, one of Charlotte's most influential
architecture/engineering firms, the building is very much in keeping
with the dictates of the International style. Much as Le Corbusier
and other Modernist insisted, the building is completely devoid of
traditional decoration and makes a straightforward statement about its
structural elements. |
